The Black River Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They fell 48-41 to Wellington. Black River has struggled against the Dukes recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Brooke Lehmkuhl was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds for Wellington. Gabby Miller was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Black River has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will take on the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wellington, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Brookside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 694th, while the Dukes are ranked 319th).
