The St. Stephens Indians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on West Iredell with a sharp 81-59 win. The result was nothing new for St. Stephens, who have now won three matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
St. Stephens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonah Long led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah VanBeurden, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, West Iredell had strong showings from Jermaine Cornelius, who scored 19 points, and David Bunton, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Cornelius scored a full 32.2% of West Iredell's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Stephens' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. As for West Iredell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
