Citrus Belt recap Oct. 16, 2012
Redlands East Valley's Taylor Thompson recorded the longest rushing play in Citrus Belt this season in his game against Miller last week. Thompson ran for 78 yards on the play and finished with 171 on the day as his team defeated the Rebels.
Eisenhower moved up to 106 from 153 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Yucaipa 40-15.
Tawon Green was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 173 yards as Eisenhower topped Cajon. Teammate Trevin Island added to the ground attack by rushing for 70 yards.
Levi Plante threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns. He went 14-16 with zero interceptions.
Ory was the best wideout in Citrus Belt this week as the Terriers beat the Cowboys. Ory tallied five receptions for 91 yards. Walter Jones helped Redlands' passing attack out by catching four balls for 81 yards.
The Thunderbirds' Billy Gustason and Brandon Scott have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gustason has thrown for 1297 yards this season, while Scott, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 46 catches for 687 yards. Craig Lee from Redlands leads the league in rushing with 1127 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Redlands East Valley and Jim Walker's team meet this week. Kurt Bruich's team features well-regarded defensive lineman Kylie Fitts while the Terriers has Lee, a sought after senior.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Wildcats take on Redlands. As it stands, Redlands East Valley is in fourth, while the Terriers are in first.
Redlands extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cajon, 28-16. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
