Clarkson/Leigh took the game and then some with a 66-14 victory on Friday over Omaha Christian Academy. The margin was wide but not a surprise since Clarkson/Leigh are ranked far ahead of Omaha Christian Academy in the MaxPreps state rankings.
The match started off well for Clarkson/Leigh, whose offense put up 60 first-half points. Meanwhile, Omaha Christian Academy couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 60-0 heading into the break. Although Clarkson/Leigh wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
Sophomore Tommy Mcevoy was the offensive standout of the match for Clarkson/Leigh, as he rushed for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sophomore Lance Paprocki was in the mix, too, providing Clarkson/Leigh with 2 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 3-2. Omaha Christian Academy are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-5.
Next week Clarkson/Leigh take on Cedar Bluffs at 7:00 PM. Both of those teams have set a high bar for this matchup after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. Omaha Christian Academy will stay at home against Emerson-Hubbard at 7:00 PM.
