This season hasn't been kind to the Jim Thorpe Olympians, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a hard 60-46 fall against Tamaqua on Monday. Jim Thorpe was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tamaqua apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
It was another big night for Connor Dillon, who scored 25 points along with five steals for Tamaqua. The matchup was Dillon's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ansbach, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Jim Thorpe bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tamaqua, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jim Thorpe will square off against Marian Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Marian Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Jim Thorpe likes a good challenge. As for Tamaqua, they will head out on the road to face off against Roberto Clemente Charter School at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
