West Caldwell typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Bunker Hill proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on six straight.
Not much got past Serena Thurman, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep West Caldwell off the board. Thurman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bunker Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Setzer, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Kylie Killian was another, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.
West Lincoln's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bunker Hill, their record is now 20-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Bunker Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
