The Kokomo HomeSchool Eagles struggled with assists on Friday (the Colonial Christian Cougars had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kokomo HomeSchool took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colonial Christian. Kokomo HomeSchool has not had much luck with Colonial Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Kokomo HomeSchool had strong showings from Ruth Gollner, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Anna Singleton, who scored six points along with three steals. Gollner also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season.
Colonial Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Meg Barfield out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Barfield is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Minton, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Kokomo HomeSchool's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for Colonial Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kokomo HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on King's Academy on February 10th. As for Colonial Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Crosspointe Christian Academy at 5:45 p.m. Crosspointe Christian Academy and Colonial Christian are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
