Salem is 0-10 against Argyle since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Salem Generals will head out on the road to take on the Argyle Scots at 7:00 p.m. Salem comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Salem suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Warrensburg, falling 88-16. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Salem in their matchups with Warrensburg: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Salem had strong showings from Patrick Stone, who scored three points along with six rebounds and two blocks, and Blaise Barrett, who scored two points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Salem struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Argyle strolled past Hartford Central with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-40. Given Argyle's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Hartford Central is ranked 630th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Salem bumped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Argyle, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Salem was dealt a bruising 69-32 loss at the hands of Argyle in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Salem was down 38-14.
