Oliver Springs and the Bulldogs are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Oliver Springs Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Wartburg Central Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Oliver Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
Oliver Springs pushed their score all the way to 71, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 88-71 fall against Jellico. Oliver Springs has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Oliver Springs had strong showings from Ethan Jones, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Javen Barger, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Wright, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Wartburg Central suffered a rough 61-41 defeat at the hands of the Tigers on Tuesday. Wartburg Central has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Oliver Springs' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-10. As for Wartburg Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
Oliver Springs strolled past the Bulldogs in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 57-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oliver Springs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
