The Tampa Catholic Crusaders lost against the IMG Academy Ascenders back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Tampa Catholic was outmatched by IMG Academy on the road and fell 91-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tampa Catholic in their matchups with IMG Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Tampa Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isaiah Campbell-Finch. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. Campbell-Finch scored a full 49.1% of Tampa Catholic's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Cole, who scored 11 points.
Tampa Catholic bumped their record down to 6-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for IMG Academy, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Tampa Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Leesburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. IMG Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Life Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 676th, while IMG Academy is ranked 51st).
