Two dominant guards in Gabriel Short and Michael Mcculley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The River Valley Dust Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kingman Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
River Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 85-62 defeat at the hands of American Leadership Academy - West Foothills. River Valley has struggled against American Leadership Academy - West Foothills recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
River Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nash Hanrahan, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 4 assists, and Short who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hanrahan has scored all season. Nysaiah Vargas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Kingman scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 72-43 victory over Odyssey Institute at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Kingman has posted since December 6, 2023.
River Valley bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Kingman, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
Things could have been worse for River Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to Kingman when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for River Valley, Dominick Kinney (who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
