The Notre Dame Catholic Lancers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They breezed by Joel Barlow on the road to the tune of 49-21. The result was nothing new for Notre Dame Catholic, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Antwan Davis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 322 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.0 yards per carry. Davis is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Razor, who rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Joel Barlow to a paltry 218 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Notre Dame Catholic's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Ariel Hanley and Justin Reid who racked up four sacks between them.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Gilbert, who rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Gilbert was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards.
Notre Dame Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-0. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Joel Barlow, Lewis Mills, and Weston. As for Joel Barlow, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Catholic will take on Masuk at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. As for Joel Barlow, they will be playing at home against New Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
