Ben L. Smith extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 1-14. They came up short against the Ragsdale Tigers, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 30-0 defeat last Friday.
Alyzah Shuler made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
As for Ragsdale, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
On Ragsdale's side, Gracie Jet Cuthrell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Cuthrell has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ragsdale got a massive performance out of Genesis Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave Edwards a new career-high. Ellie Cuthrell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
As of now, neither Ben L. Smith nor Ragsdale have any future games scheduled.
