Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Collegiate Sundevils vs. Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix

The Charleston Collegiate Sundevils and the Palmetto Scholars Academy Phoenix will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Charleston Collegiate has six straight wins, Palmetto Scholars Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Charleston Collegiate will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Academic Magnet, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Charleston Collegiate came out on top against Academic Magnet by a score of 59-48 on Tuesday.

Grant Morrison was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Clayton Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Palmetto Scholars Academy came up short against Charleston Math & Science on Tuesday and fell 70-58. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Riptide are ranked 97th).

Palmetto Scholars Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Charleston Collegiate, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Charleston Collegiate was dealt a bruising 81-49 loss at the hands of Palmetto Scholars Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2021.
