Jefferson-Morgan hasn't had much luck against Carmichaels recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Mighty Mikes at 4:00 p.m.
Greensburg Central Catholic hit Jefferson-Morgan with a four-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rockets came up short against the Centurions, falling 8-2.
Jefferson-Morgan saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dayten Marion, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs. Jaymison Robinson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Carmichaels waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 15-10 win over the Commodores. The Mighty Mikes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ryder Krieg was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chase Ankrom, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. Scottie Maskil was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Carmichaels was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Jefferson-Morgan's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Carmichaels, their record now sits at 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson-Morgan has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carmichaels struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Jefferson-Morgan's way against Carmichaels in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Jefferson-Morgan made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
