The Metro-East Lutheran Knights will head out to challenge the St. Anne Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Metro-East Lutheran barely beat Oblong the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights claimed a resounding 44-14 victory over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven games by 22 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Abe Oberhauser, who rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries, and also threw for 173 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. Lee Watson also helped out as he racked up 103 rushing yards.
Metro-East Lutheran's run defense was locked in: Oblong could only muster 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Landyn Jefferson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Metro-East Lutheran didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.
Metro-East Lutheran didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Isaak Broekemeier.
Meanwhile, St. Anne waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Knights, posting a 61-12 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Knights are ranked 28th).
Metro-East Lutheran better keep an eye on Matthew Langellier. He was instrumental in St. Anne's win, picking up 76 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Langellier has been hot recently, having also posted two or more receiving touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Metro-East Lutheran's record now sits at 7-2. As for St. Anne, their record is now 8-1.
Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Metro-East Lutheran has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like St. Anne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 172.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
