Parklane Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Parklane Academy posted their biggest victory yet this season two weeks ago. They blew past Bowling Green 63-26 at home. Given Parklane Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Mississippi, while Bowling Green is ranked 190th in Louisiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Oak Forest Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They breezed by Brookhaven Academy on the road to the tune of 65-34.
Oak Forest Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Garrett Shoemaker, who scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Shoemaker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trendan Spears, who scored 12 points along with six assists and three steals.
Parklane Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Oak Forest Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Parklane Academy skirted past Oak Forest Academy 61-58 when the teams last played on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parklane Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
