The Carver A&T Wildcats won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by Pikesville 72-22. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carver A&T in their matchups with Pikesville: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Carver A&T saw an underclassman step up: Jordan Carrington scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carrington has scored all season.
Pikesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bree Taylor, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and three steals. Taylor hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Samira Hawkins, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Carver A&T's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Pikesville, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Carver A&T will take on Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pikesville, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Mary's at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (St. Mary's is ranked 17th, while Pikesville is ranked 22nd).
