Colleton County posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Bluffton 50-48.
Mykeem Gant was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with four steals. Brian Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Lucy Beckham suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of May River by a score of 50-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lucy Beckham came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while May River is ranked 113th).
Colleton County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Lucy Beckham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Colleton County lost to Lucy Beckham on the road by a decisive 61-42 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Colleton County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
