The Jackson Central Merry Cougars will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Haywood Tomcats at 6:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Jackson Central Merry was the victim of a rough 48-22 defeat at the hands of Jackson South Side. Jackson Central Merry has not had much luck with Jackson South Side recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though Haywood has not done well against Covington recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Haywood took down Covington 32-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Haywood.
Haywood found their leader in underclassman Zamaria Murphy, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Murphy set a new season high mark in steals with four.
Jackson Central Merry's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Haywood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Jackson Central Merry skirted past Haywood 48-45 in their previous matchup back in November. Will Jackson Central Merry repeat their success, or does Haywood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
