Basketball Recap: Steward Piles Up the Points Against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy

Steward won the last time they faced Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Steward Spartans blew past the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints, posting a 75-25 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 26 points or more this season.

Steward's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hali Harris, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in shooting accuracy (86%). Another player making a difference was Ava Johnson, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and six blocks.

Steward smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Steward's win bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Coming up, Steward will be playing in front of their home fans against Cape Henry Collegiate at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Peninsula Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
