Softball Recap: Atlantic Coast Wins Going Away Against Sandalwood

Atlantic Coast had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Sandalwood on Tuesday. The Stingrays were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Saints. The Stingrays might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Lily Maguire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Atlantic Coast let Stella Lynton and Morgan Brown run wild. Lynton went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Brown scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Brown has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Amia Hladik, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Atlantic Coast's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Sandalwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantic Coast will square off against Nease at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandalwood, they will take on Orange Park at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
