The Lafayette Commodores will take on the Senatobia Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Senatobia likes a good challenge.
On Thursday, Lafayette made easy work of Clarksdale and carried off a 17-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Commodores, who have now won ten games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Sydney Cregar made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braleigh Crowe, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mary Madison Kelley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lafayette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .619. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Senatobia had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Strayhorn by a score of 9-4 on Thursday.
Like Lafayette, Senatobia also got a great game from a two-way player: Kelsey Hoffman. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs Hoffman has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Anna Hollis Faulkner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Bayleigh Sims was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. Senatobia's win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Lafayette took their victory against Senatobia in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0. Does Lafayette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Senatobia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
