The Bunker Hill Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Maiden Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Wednesday, Bunker Hill was beaten by East Burke 85-29. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Bunker Hill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rachel Beck, who posted seven points and eight rebounds, and Kylie Killian, who had six points.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Maiden over West Caldwell in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Maiden blew West Caldwell out of the water with a 59-15 final score. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.
Bunker Hill better keep an eye on Khiara Culliver. She was instrumental in Maiden's win, going 6 of 8 on her way to 17 points. Culliver has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Neeley Campbell, who put up seven points and three steals.
Maiden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups.
Maiden's record now sits at 11-2. As for Bunker Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bunker Hill has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Maiden struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Bunker Hill was dealt a bruising 74-41 loss at the hands of Maiden in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Culliver, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds.
