Given Hutto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Sam Houston is ranked 935th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hutto's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cylin Tate led the charge by scoring 25 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was Tate's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zachary Hicks, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Hutto's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Sam Houston, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Hutto's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stony Point at 12:00 p.m. on December 8th. Stony Point knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Hutto likes a good challenge. As for Sam Houston, they will be playing at home against Regents at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
