The Raymondville Bearkats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down Premont 65-51. That's another feather in the cap for Raymondville, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Colt Cavazos continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Slevin Gutierrez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Raymondville's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-15. As for Premont, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raymondville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Port Isabel at 8:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Port Isabel is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games. As for Premont, they will head out on the road to face off against Kaufer at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Kaufer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
