The Idalou Wildcats will face off against the Shallowater Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with 12 defeats in a row, Idalou turned things around against Dimmitt on Monday. They blew past the Bobcats 26-2. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Addyson Linker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Linker was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Idalou got a massive performance out of Mylee Estrada, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Alicia Negrete was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, while Shallowater put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Dimmitt. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 16-0 victory.
The team relied heavily on Aubri Maldonado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Stephenson, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Shallowater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dimmitt only posted an OBP of .000.
Idalou's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-13. As for Shallowater, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Idalou suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Shallowater in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
