The Campbell Spartans pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 62-55 to Hardaway. Campbell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Campbell's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marlie Battle, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Suttle, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds.
Hardaway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Johnson, who scored 30 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Hardaway's points. Another player making a difference was Akilah Shelton, who scored 20 points.
Campbell now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Hardaway, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Campbell will be playing at home against Archer at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Archer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Hardaway, they will square off against Cross Creek at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
