The St. Johns Country Day Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against ED White as St. Johns Country Day made off with a 65-45 victory. Considering St. Johns Country Day has won three contests by more than 19 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Johns Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary Kate Kent, who scored 32 points along with six assists and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Kent has scored at least 25% of St. Johns Country Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Proffitt, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why ED White lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leandrea McCloud. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. McCloud continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Karli Torres, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, ED White were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory (which was St. Johns Country Day's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for ED White, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Johns Country Day is on the road again on Monday and play against Duval Charter at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th. Duval Charter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for ED White, they will head out on the road to face off against Beachside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Beachside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday.
