Given Southeast Alamance's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Jordan-Matthews is ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southeast Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaniya Paylor, who scored 11 points along with five assists and five steals. Natalie Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Jordan-Matthews lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lia Carter. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with three steals. The match was Carter's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Charley Lemons, who scored four points.
Southeast Alamance has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Jordan-Matthews, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
