Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Varina

Varina waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the John Marshall Justices 21-7.

Ta'Vion Tunstall made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tunstall was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Varina got a big performance out of Keith Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Brooks a new career-high. Carter Sisk was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Varina's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for John Marshall, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Varina will head out to square off against Monacan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for John Marshall, they will venture away from home to face off against Henrico at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Justices will no doubt try to take advantage of.
