Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 83-47 stomp they got on the road against West Iredell. Given Community School of Davidson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while West Iredell is ranked 634th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Community School of Davidson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dermot Lowry, who scored 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lowry has scored at least 25% of Community School of Davidson's points. Another player making a difference was Austin Moran, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, West Iredell still got an impressive performance from Jermaine Cornelius, who scored 18 points. The contest was Cornelius' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Thomas Colbert was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Community School of Davidson and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for West Iredell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Community School of Davidson won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wilkes Central at 5:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Wilkes Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Community School of Davidson likes a good challenge. West Iredell won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Iredell at 11:30 a.m. on December 29, 2023. South Iredell is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
