Stevenson extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They came up short against the Fort Vancouver Trappers, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trappers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-6 on Tuesday.
Kohl Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Briar Cameron, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
As for Fort Vancouver, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games.
On Fort Vancouver's side, Lincoln Freeman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Freeman also tossed two walks, which is notable because Fort Vancouver is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Freeman was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Aiden Baron and Sebastian De La Cruz did most of the damage at the plate: Baron got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while De La Cruz went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. De La Cruz is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Billy Freeman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Stevenson and Fort Vancouver could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 271st) will meet King's Way Christian (ranked 81st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fort Vancouver will take on Seton Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 22).
