Softball Recap: Yorktown Wins Going Away Against Cole

Yorktown had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Cole Cougars. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant win of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Lorelai Gowens, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Amaya Luna also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Yorktown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Yorktown now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Cole, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Yorktown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-16 defeat against Kenedy on the 4th. As for Cole, they have also already played their next match, a 0-0 draw against Saint Mary's Hall on the 4th.
