Basketball Recap: Calaveras Skates Past Riverbank with Ease

Calaveras won the last time they faced Riverbank and things went their way on Friday too. The Calaveras Red Hawks blew past the Riverbank Bruins, posting a 61-32 win. The Red Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Calaveras' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Pedersen, who made all 6 shots he took to post 18 points and five assists. That's the most points Pedersen has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Clifton, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five assists.

Calaveras smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Calaveras has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Riverbank, they are on a 20-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Calaveras will take on Big Valley Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calaveras knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Big Valley Christian likes a good challenge. As for Riverbank, they are taking a road trip to challenge Linden at 7:15 p.m. on February 7th.
