New Oxford hasn't had much luck against Dallastown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Colonials will look to defend their home field against the Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. New Oxford will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
New Oxford hadn't beaten Susquehannock on the road since March 31, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Colonials came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 8-3. With that win, the Colonials brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Carter Wagaman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Wagaman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, New Oxford let Gavin Haifley and Tayvon Jacoby run wild. Haifley scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Jacoby scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Alex Brown was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dallastown). Their pitcher stepped up to hand William Penn a 10-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Like New Oxford, Dallastown also got a great game from a two-way player: Carson Meyer. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meyer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Cade Flinchbaugh was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Seitz-Gemmill, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Dallastown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as William Penn struck out 12 times.
New Oxford's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Dallastown, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. New Oxford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dallastown struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
New Oxford couldn't quite finish off Dallastown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Colonials have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
