Calvary Day extended the longest winning streak in A Region 3A this week by beating Savannah Country Day, 48-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Hornets' Heys McMath and Ben Johnson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McMath has thrown for 555 yards this season, while Johnson has 25 catches for 238 yards. Jake Clemens from Calvary Day leads the league in rushing with 360 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Calvary Day takes on second place Savannah Christian. Last week, the Cavaliers beat Savannah Country Day, while Savannah Christian bested Claxton.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Raiders take on Calvary Day. Savannah Christian has allowed 84 points this season, while the Cavaliers have given up 76. The Raiders allowed 14 points last week as they bested the Tigers.
Jenkins County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,886 from 10,387. The improvement came about via a 28-6 victory over Portal last week.
