Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Piles Up the Points Against Mesa Grande Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Notre Dame). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Mesa Grande Academy Cardinals 84-23. The Titans have beaten the Cardinals the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Cardinals has come to flipping the script.

Leading Notre Dame to victory were Jaxon Coduti and Aaron Lewis. Coduti shot 77% from the field to rack up 24 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Lewis went 8-for-20 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Lewis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lennon Griffin, who shot 47% from the field en route to 18 points.

Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Notre Dame's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Mesa Grande Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will face off against Carter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The game will give the Titans their first taste of in-conference action this season. Mesa Grande Academy will take on River Springs Charter School Magnolia in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
