The Mariposa County Grizzlies will challenge the Livingston Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mariposa County has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Mariposa County came up short against Hilmar on Tuesday, falling 16-6. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Alexa Morrow made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those hits were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Hutchings, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Even though they lost, Mariposa County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Livingston hadn't done well against Ripon recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Everything went Livingston's way against Ripon as Livingston made off with a 16-6 victory. With that win, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 8.2 runs per game.
Mariah Blaine made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Costa was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Tatiana Muniz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one triple.
Mariposa County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Livingston, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
