The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Banquete 77-50 on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Falfurrias had established a 26 point advantage.
Leading Falfurrias to victory were Marcos Gonzalez and Quisto Sanchez. Gonzalez scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals, while Sanchez scored 21 points along with two blocks. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nate Perez, who scored 11 points.
Banquete's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrew Elizondo, who scored 18 points along with four steals, and Brandon Ramon who scored two points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elizondo has scored all season.
Falfurrias' victory bumped their record up to 26-5. As for Banquete, their loss dropped their record down to 3-22.
Falfurrias will head out on the road to take on Santa Gertrudis Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Falfurrias focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for Banquete, they will head out on the road to square off against San Diego at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. San Diegopresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Banquete in Texas (San Diego is ranked 694th, while Banquete is ranked 1652nd).
