Softball Recap: Thunderbird Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Thunderbird made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Morenci, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Thunderbird blew past Morenci 12-2 on Friday. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Alicia Flores was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Casey, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madelyn Vasquez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Thunderbird always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morenci only posted an OBP of .217.

Thunderbird has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Morenci and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Thunderbird didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Poston Butte on the 21st. As for Morenci, they have also already played their next match, a 1-0 defeat against Thatcher on the 21st.
