The Medina Valley Panthers will take on the Del Rio Rams at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Medina Valley will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Wednesday. Medina Valley blew past United South 21-3. The result was nothing new for Medina Valley, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Kylah Martinez looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Avery Nash and Kynlee Crisp did most of the damage at the plate: Nash went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Crisp went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Crisp has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Madison Camacho, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Medina Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as United South only posted an OBP of .227.
Meanwhile, Del Rio had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Panthers. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.
Karina Limon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Limon was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Janiah Ross was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Aubany DeLaO was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Medina Valley is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Del Rio, their victory bumped their record up to 8-19.
Everything went Medina Valley's way against Del Rio when the teams last played back in March, as Medina Valley made off with a 9-2 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
