Softball Recap: Westlake Has No Trouble Against Orem

Westlake won against Mountain Crest last Saturday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Westlake Thunder were the clear victor by a 13-2 margin over the Orem Tigers. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Audrey Sherman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two triples, and five RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in triples. Emmri Chuchran was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Westlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orem only posted an OBP of .211.

The win made it two in a row for Westlake and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Orem, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Westlake will venture away from home to challenge Herriman at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Orem, they will welcome Maple Mountain at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maple Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.
