Basketball Recap: Pinole Valley Comes Up Short

Pinole Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Bellarmine College Prep on Saturday. The Pinole Valley Spartans came up short against the Bellarmine College Prep Bells, falling 72-49. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Bells are ranked 27th).

When it comes to explaining why Pinole Valley lost, don't look at Amar Tudinovic. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Tudinovic a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ahmari Otis, who posted 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Pinole Valley and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for Bellarmine College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Pinole Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-57 defeat against Menomonee Falls on the 30th. As for Bellarmine College Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-59 victory against St. Joseph Notre Dame on the 30th.
