Baseball Recap: Canajoharie Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Canajoharie had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over the Wolves. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Cameron Fox made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brandon Memrick, who went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Nicholas Barlow was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Canajoharie is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
