The Liberty Bison will challenge the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Liberty is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Rialto with a sharp 14-1 victory on Monday. The win was familiar territory for the Bison, who have now won three contests in a row.
Brooklyn Abeyta tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only four hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Jolie Tompkins was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Julianna Larson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Apple Valley made sure to put some runs up on the board against Barstow on Thursday. Apple Valley was the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Barstow. The Sun Devils have beaten the Aztecs the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Aztecs has come to flipping the script.
MAKAYLEE CERF made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. CERF was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Apple Valley let SAMANTHA DOLLAR and PEYTON GAYTAN run wild. DOLLAR scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while GAYTAN went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. DOLLAR also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was BROOKE JOHNSON, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Apple Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-1-1.
