Thales Academy Apex hasn't had much luck against Cary Christian recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Titans are taking a road trip to take on the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Thales Academy Apex will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Neuse Christian Academy on Monday. The Titans blew past the Lions 16-5. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Louis Olsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Olsen was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Olsen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Sheldon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Sheldon is becoming a predictor of Thales Academy Apex's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Daniel Jakushokas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cary Christian). They put the hurt on Trinity Academy with a sharp 13-2 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Like Thales Academy Apex, Cary Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Hill. Throwing, Hill pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Samuel Snyder tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hill went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Snyder earned two runs and two stolen bases. Those two runs gave Hill a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zachary Lindstrom, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dearolf, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Thales Academy Apex's record now sits at 8-3. As for Cary Christian, their record is now 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Thales Academy Apex has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cary Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Thales Academy Apex might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Cary Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
