Softball Recap: Fort Loramie Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Fort Loramie won the last time they faced Jackson Center and things went their way on Monday too. The Redskins blew past the Tigers 10-2.

Claire Hoying spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Fort Loramie got a massive performance out of Brooke Gehret, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Gehret a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Tennery, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fort Loramie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.

Fort Loramie's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-13. As for Jackson Center, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Coincidentally, Fort Loramie and Jackson Center will both be playing Fairlawn the next time they take the field. The Redskins will host the Jets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Tigers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
