The Lake Stevens Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Stevens has three straight victories, Mountlake Terrace has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lake Stevens barely beat Arlington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday.

04/28/25 vs Cascade | 11 |
04/25/25 @ Stanwood | 5 |
04/22/25 vs Glacier Peak | 10 |
04/18/25 @ Kamiak | 5 |
04/14/25 vs Arlington | 12 |
The result came thanks to Charli Pugmire's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on McKenna Richer, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reese Breckenridge, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Lake Stevens was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only posted a batting average of .042.
Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace came up short against Archbishop Murphy on Friday and fell 14-10.
Jordyn Stokes was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Brown, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lake Stevens' victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Mountlake Terrace, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Stevens has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mountlake Terrace struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lake Stevens beat Mountlake Terrace 3-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
