Basketball Recap: Santaluces Comes Up Short

Santaluces dropped down to 3-2 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a blow against the Dwyer Panthers, falling 57-30. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chiefs of the 54-17 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dezinae Martin, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 15 points. Martin also put up two blocks, which were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaedeyn Garvin, who posted five points in addition to eight rebounds and six blocks.

As for Dwyer, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. That looming 57-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Elizabeth Lynskey-Lake produced another solid performance shooting 63% from the field en route to 14 points along with five assists and five boards. Lynskey-Lake is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Maya Kutsmeda was another key player, putting up 12 points and four blocks.

Santaluces has already played their next game, a 32-30 victory against Palm Beach Central on the 3rd. As for Dwyer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 41-40 loss against Treasure Coast on the 2nd.
